This Is Not a Vendetta

Early in my career I learned from so many exceptionally good leaders that I expected to keep encountering them. But the opposite happened: the further I advanced, and the more I became invested in being a leader my team could trust, the more I found myself working with, and for, leaders I would never want to emulate.

More than once I screamed into the universe, asking what in the world it was trying to teach me by surrounding me with lousy leaders. Was I supposed to learn to make better job choices? Become a better suck-up? Give in and accept mediocrity?

Nope.

I finally heard the universe’s answer: heal higher ed. Rid higher ed of bad leadership by filling the leadership pipeline with women who are awesome: women who are strong, resilient, compassionate, and strategic. Women who want to use all of those gifts as they advance in their careers. Women who understand that caring for people is the first, last, and only real responsibility a leader has.

I’m not on a vendetta. I’m on a mission.
